Project Overview:

This living room in our client’s Spanish Colonial home was her last “challenge” room to perfect. The final room in this house to be “finished,” this project was truly a space finished in stages.

Comfortable Conversation

This living room in our client’s Spanish Colonial home was her last “challenge” room to perfect. We had first attempted to use previous furnishings, re-upholstering, etc. Opting not to have a fireplace on the long focal wall made it more difficult to design. We had already selected the light sconces when originally designing the home 5 years ago.

Our first change was the wall color, from “Blonde” to “Anew Gray.” We had purchased the original botanical oil painting and amazing hand knotted area rug as we previously and progressively worked on this room. To set the “new stage”, we re-selected the wall light sconces, a simpler design, still adding a warm glow to the room and defining a focal point.  The new floor plan was created for casual and comfortable conversation, leading to our choice of 4 chairs.

We chose the large antiqued mirror cabinet to balance the back wall, to give a base to the painting. The round ebony stained wood and wrought iron table allows for ease and convenience for guests. We hung the over-sized floor mirrors for dimension and balance. To complete and add enchantment to the room, we selected Tom Corbin’s incredible bronze scuptures “The Conversation” and “Dance Moderne”.

Our client now LOVES her cozy, fresh, and comfortable lounge.
