Simple Guest Bedroom
Our client wanted to create a fresh, inviting, and comfy guest room.
Problems Addressed
Our only challenge were the 3 small windows above the bed…they face west so here in Texas we needed to at least soften the evening sun.
Design Solutions
Our wall color was chosen first to give us warmth, a warm custard cream. We also selected primarily whites and off-whites for the remainder of the fabrics in the room for that fresh feel. Since we hadn’t used a metal bed in the other bedrooms, we chose this style for it’s “Spanish arch” cathedral design.
Since we didn’t have much room between the bed and armoire, a tall and narrow bedside side table was needed… finished in a distressed off-white with top pull-out shelf for drink convenience. Our client had numerous antiques so this gave us the opportunity to enjoy the old cedar chest at the foot of the bed and the mirrored armoire (now converted to house a television).
To give us that fresh feeling, the bedding is an off-white lined embroidered sheer linen…with a sheer embroidered linen gathered skirt… made in this older style bedding and giving the bed a cozy – plush look. The Roman shades are also made of the lined sheer embroidered linen… along with the front drapery …. and linen back drapery for privacy.
The custom accent chairs were used in her last home in the dining room. We had new slipcovers made to re-fresh the chairs. Little details such as the mini chandelier (used in her previous home in her master bedroom) in the corner and the little carved-wood monks complete this wonderful guest room!
